Come and enjoy a free tour with BSL support of our Pride and Joy exhibition and explore the most extensive display of Beryl Cook's work to date with more than 80 works, from iconic paintings to rarely seen treasures from private collections and the Cook family archive. 2026 marks both Cook's centenary and 50 years since the 1976 Sunday Times feature that launched her career following her first exhibition at Plymouth Arts Centre in 1975.

After the tour enjoy our pet portrait workshop for beginners. Beryl Cook loved animals..... they feature in many of her paintings including her own beloved pet cat Cedric. Stout dogs and 'chonky' cats litter her work and often steal the scene. This fun workshop, led by student artist Fatima Al Duhaimi, will take you through the basics of creating your own Beryl-style portrait using acrylic paints and collage. You can bring along a photo of your own pet or paint Cedric.

Both the tour and workshop are suitable for beginners and will be supported by British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation provided by Shirley Elks.
