Artist-Led Workshop: Creatures for Change - Saturday 24 October
Artist-Led Workshop: Creatures for Change - Saturday 24 October
2-4pm
Join illustrator, Devon Tipping, to take a journey through Dartmoor folktales like the famous Old Crockern and create a 'creature for change'. Imagine your own guardian spirit – something that speaks to your relationship with home, your current way of life, and the kind of life you’d like to live in the future.
This creative workshop is inspired by The Box’s forthcoming The Way We Live exhibition and the 1946 Jill Craigie film of the same name. The film highlights how Plymouth’s city centre was shaped with people in mind after the Blitz.
With Plymouth’s city centre set to transform again through the Plymouth City Living Project, this workshop invites you to creatively reflect on the project and share your aspirations for its development. Can your creature find a home within the Plymouth City Living Project? Does the Plymouth City Living Project address your desires? What is working well and what can be recommended to change in the project? This is a space to be creative, play, and feel empowered to voice what you would like to see in the Plymouth City Living Project, along with exploring the wonders of Dartmoor mythology through collage and drawing.
This event will take place in the Urban Room at the University of Plymouth’s Levinsky Building and is perfect for adults and young people aged 16+. All materials will be provided.
Free. Advance booking essential.
