Horses crossing the River Orwell, 1965
This print shows a cart drawn by three horses crossing the River Orwell with Woollaton Hall in the right distance.
The image is a drawing by Van Diest, Adriaan in 1695. Previously attributed to Adriaen van Diest but Julien Stock's suggestion that the drawing may be by Siberechts is borne out by comparison with that of the 'View of Beeley near Chatsworth'. Siberechts painted his large picture of Woollaton Hall, now in the Paul Mellon Collection, in the following year.
