Drawing of Arch of Septimus Severus, 1750s
This print shows The Forum, Rome, with Groups of Figures near the Arch of Septimus Severus, The Temples of Concord and of Satun Beyond.
The image is a drawing by Wilson, Richard. Traditionally attributed to Richard Wilson. Brinsley Ford has tentatively suggested Wilson's Irish pupil Robert Crone who, according to Richard Hayward's manuscript list of 'English Artists in Rome', was working there with Wilson in 1755, (text from Sotheby's 1979 catalogue).
