2pm-4.30pm
Join our half-day Sashiko workshop focused on the art of strengthening through repair. Sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique, is renowned for its practical beauty, originally developed to reinforce and mend worn fabric.
This event will be led by local artist Nicky Harwood, whose piece 'Parachute' was displayed in our 'Planet Ocean' exhibition from March-August 2024.
In this workshop, you'll learn the fundamental stitches and techniques of Sashiko, using them to repair and strengthen your own textiles. Discover the satisfaction of turning tears and frays into stunning patterns while preserving the life of your textiles.
Ideal for those interested in sustainable fashion, craft, and the cultural heritage of Japan, this event combines creativity with practical skill.
No prior experience is necessary. All materials supplied.
