Get inspired by the art and history of Mughal India! As part of our 'Beyond The Page: South Asian Miniature Painting and Britain, 1600 to Now' event programme, join us for a creative workshop inspired by South Asian miniature painting. This workshop is open to everyone regardless of experience and is suitable for anyone age 9 and above.

South Asian miniature paintings are often the work of many artists. Some artists specialised in creating the elaborate decorative frames that surround the paintings and calligraphy that tell epic stories of love and war or portraits in Mughal miniature albums. These frames included finely painted including flowers, birds and delicate motifs.

In this two-hour workshop you will learn about the designs and styles of decorative frames found in Mughal miniature albums and use traditional materials to decorate and take home your own artwork.

All materials will be provided.

This workshop is being delivered by traditional artist Unaiza Karim on behalf of the Museum of Islamic Arts & Heritage (MIAH) Foundation. Unaiza Karim is an award-winning artist and qualified teacher.
