10.30am-12pm
2.30pm-4pm
Join artists Vanessa Crosse and Dezeta Fantie to produce a colourful collage self-portrait in this unique workshop, inspired by The Time is Always Now exhibition and in particular Njideka Akunyili Crosby's Still You Bloom in This Land of Gardens.
During the workshop you'll create a vibrant, highly personal multimedia collage featuring layered images and patterns. You'll use a variety of materials and techniques including image transfer, stencilling and typography. Your portrait’s skin tone will be imbued with assorted colours as a nod to the work of artists such as Amy Sherald and Kerry James Marshall who make bold statements with their portrayal of skin colour.
Please bring a selection of two or three photos of yourself to the workshop. They need to be portrait A5 and printed on ordinary photocopy paper.
Beginners welcome.
